Winner of the 2013 Red Bull Creation challenge, a 72-hour build competition held in Brooklyn at a custom built shop.

The subject was “signal to noise;” the challenge was to design and build a new type of musical instrument. After 72 hours of welding, soldering, 3d printing, and plasma cutting our team created Autoloop, a physical drum sequencer and tone generator that worked alongside a robotic drum kit. To activate the drums the user places ball bearings on a disc to add the instrument to the loop, while the tone generator interprets the placement of objects to create a repeating visual ‘melody’.
